The Pah Tempe (PT) sandal was designed to perform better than the traditional huarache in water and steep terrain. The PT was the first minimal sandal without a strap between the toes. This sandal is great for hiking, running, backpacking, every day wear, or as light-weight camp shoe. It is also great for those who don’t like anything between their toes. The strap goes over the top of the foot/toes and is designed to allow the toes to splay as needed. This sandal offers a 10 mm stack height, zero-drop sole. The Pah Tempe was redesigned in August 2016 to the 2.0 version.

  • No strap between the toes
  • Continuous strap design makes adjustment simple
  • Rugged and secure design
  • Contemporary sport sandal style

Highly recommended — including for wide feet

I have spent 8 weeks travelling this summer, wearing these sandals almost constantly, for hiking as well as sightseeing. They are super-comfortable for all-day wear, and show absolutely no sign of wear, despite hard use.

Features I particularly like: They come in 5 custom options, allowing me to choose a sole shape that actually matches my foot, which is much wider and less angled in the toes than average. They don’t have a strap between the big and second toes, which I find very irritating to my skin. The straps are very soft. Before I discovered minimalist shoes, I had a pair of Chacos, which I had to wear with socks because the straps chewed up my skin; nothing like that every happened with myi Unshoe Pah Tempes, even the first time I wore them. When they get dirty, they can be easily washed and air-dried.

Hints: I found I needed to select a size that looked about a half-size long (when I stood on the printed template), to allow for normal movement of my forefoot in walking. It took me a bit of practice to learn how to adjust the straps so that they were the right tightness; I found it worked best to tighten them a bit more than seemed comfortable, because they quickly loosen just a bit. Then they hold well for a long time, though occasionally I will re-tighten them when I first put them on.
